Stakeholder Spotlight – SICADAE

  • News

Tell us a little about your organisation. How do the areas of nanotechnology and sustainability impact your work?

We are a consulting company with expertise in chemistry, toxicology and ecotoxicology. We also work within the chemical risk assessment. Within these domains, we can support companies in nanoforms Reach/CLP regulation dossiers, nano risk assessment, …

What is the newest/most innovative development in nanotechnology that you and/or your organisation is excited about now?

We aren’t specialised in nanotechnology, but we are very interested in all the new protection equipment for workers using nanos. Usual risk assessment approaches are not always suitable, so adaptation is a really exciting project we try to develop.

What, in your opinion, is the most important thing (tool, process, support, etc.) that is needed right now to help grow and strengthen the nanotechnology community?

In my opinion, given data to date, we have to remain logical and humble in the risk assessment. Knowledge in the toxicity and ecotoxicity of nanos must still be developed in order to use nanos for safe uses.

What, in your opinion, are important factors or influences that will affect the direction of the nanotechnology community in the future?

I think that safe use is an important direction for the future of nanos.
